Water Heater Repair, Service, and Installation
Our plumbers, with our over 190 years of combined experience, offer water heater repair, service, and installation. Depending on the problem with your current water heater, usually an electric water heater can be repaired, whether it's with the elements or thermostats.
Occasionally the city smart box or an electrical issue can occur causing malfunction. The average life expectancy on a quality name brand residential electric water heater can be upwards of 20 to 25 years, but eventually all water heaters will develop some type of tank failure that causes a leak sometimes very slight and sometimes very aggressively where as replacement is the only option.
This past year the Dept. of Energy (NAECA) has imposed new requirements in the manufacturing of tank type water heaters that improve efficiency, effected certain sizes and gallon capacities and increased the cost for residential electric water heaters.
As we have done for the past 31 years we highly recommend The Rheem Brand of water heaters for a number of important reasons. Although the 6 year warranty on the tank may not sound like much the fact is that these have proven over the test of time that they on average last for over 20 years under normal circumstances.
We can give pricing over the phone for the typical 240 volt electric water heater which include the new Rheem water heater (depending on information given to our office staff from the customer) if they check the front or side label as to what gallon capacity, height and location which effect the installation or replacement time involved.
With the new changes in the world of plumbing regarding water heaters, a permit is generally required in the city or county, there are generally requirements for an additional pressure relief valve, a hammer arrestor, a 3 /4” relief line terminating to the outside and a plastic round W.H. pan w/drain if possible, if the heater is on the same floor level as the main house living area.
There could be cases for a separate electric switch specifically for the w/h, and if a customer decides to relocate a water heater or add an additional water heater we can provide onsite estimates. Our work always excludes any additional electrical work if needed other than making the top or side electrical connection from the existing supply to the new W.H. since we are not licensed electricians, but we can give licensed electrician referral recommendations if needed.
Tankless water heaters are sometimes an option such as Rinnai, but also more costly plus, either Natural or LP gas is required and if an electric tankless water heater is desired other than for just an individual fixture, then a larger electrical service and/or breaker is required since the on demand water heaters require a much greater amperage input versus a standard water heater that only normally requires 30 amps. There is some smaller electrical tank options that can boost hot water or provide a quicker response time to a sink or bathroom that can be added, and estimates can be provided for such inquiries.
When we install or replace a water heater we will arrange the inspection, and haul away the old water we’ve removed. There are some cases where a 2nd plumber is needed and we can offer pricing for that factor as well.
