Bathtubs & Showers
When it comes to bath tub choices, we still recommend the Cast Iron tub for quality, appearance and longevity. Kohler is still the main supplier although American Standard makes their own version called the Americast that claims to be as durable and much lighter to install.
There are fiberglass and acrylic finish choices for tub, showers and combinations all of shapes, quality and price levels but one factor that must be realized is the ability to get the fixture through existing doorways so remodel or sectional units are often necessary.
Demo work is often involved on this type of project and we can provide not only pricing for the fixture, faucet, drain & misc. materials but also for the labor that would include or exclude the demo work.
Permits are often required for tubs and showers per the Plumbing Code and Municipality but not always depending on the specific type of work.
For tiled showers we generally suggest installing the proper 2-story shower drain with a shower pan liner and threshold guards, this is an installation process that is put under a water test to assure that the pan and installation itself, is safe before proceeding with the wall board, tile work and doors if included.
We do not perform the tile work, glass door installations, lighting or exhaust fan work in the ceiling or any extensive carpentry work.
Prior to the commencement of the work , we generally suggest arranging a meeting with the homeowners, tile man, carpenter, electrician or glass door installer if needed so that the various trades are aware of each other’s work process and to coordinate the materials needed.
If any inspections are involved regarding the plumbing work, we will coordinate it with the homeowner, contractor and the plumbing inspector, so that there isn't any miscommunication.
We are limited in our ability on a narrow time period for the inspector but this can usually be pre-arranged in a narrow window of time.
We can offer referrals for qualified tradesmen for the tile, carpentry, drywall, painting, electrical, A/C and glass shower doors with individuals or businesses that we have worked with in the past and feel comfortable in referring.
Grab Bars

These come in different lengths and diameters and can be installed on just about any wall, but it is crucial that the bars are securely attached since any failure could be significant.
